Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS teacher training)

Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) (QCF)

Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) provides support for Further Education (FE) teachers and trainers and opportunities to develop existing good practice. Candidates will achieve a basic minimum standard for entering the Lifelong Learning Sector of the teaching profession.

In September 2007, standards came into effect for all new teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector who teach on government-funded programmes in England. This includes all post-16 education, including further education, adult and community learning, work-based learning and offender education. Gravells (2012).

The PTLLS qualification is ideal for new entrants into the teaching industry. It is also ideal for anyone currently teaching or who wishes to teach their specialised subject to others. If you are a trainer involved in providing funded Work- Based Learning (WBL), you may also be required to obtain PTLLS in order to satisfy the Learning Skills Council (LSC) requirements.

The award can be taken at either Level 3 or Level 4. Learners can progress onto the: Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) and/or Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).
