So, to gain the Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry (QCF), and in order to obtain a licence, learner will need to attend a training course for a minimum of 18.5 contact hours – as stipulated by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) – and pass the examination in all modules.

Structure of Course

The Level 2 Award for Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry (QCF), a SIA-approved course, which contains three compulsory modules, is delivered every week at various centres/venues across London. The course has been designed to be completed in 3 days and can be undertaking by learners aged 16 and over. Although the age limit is 16 and over, an SIA licence can only be applied for when learners are 18.

  1. Module 1 – Working within the Private Security Industry (Distance Learning)
  2. Module 2 – Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry
  3. Module 3 – Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry

Assessment method is by Examination

Module 1 – Working within the Private Security Industry

  • 40-question multiple-choice written examination
  • To be successful, learners must achieve a score of at least 28 out of 40 questions
  • Examination is for 1 hour.

Module 2 – Working as a Security Officer within the Private Security Industry

  • 40-question multiple-choice written examination
  • To be successful, learners must achieve a score of at least 28 out of 40 questions
  • Examination is for 1 hour.

Module 3 – Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry

  • 20-question multiple-choice written examination
  • To be successful, learners must achieve a score of at least 14 out of 20
  • Examination is for 30 minutes.

Condition of Entry

Candidates must have a minimum knowledge and Level 1 in literacy before enrolment.
